Today we’re talking about a skincare product that I wish I knew about YEARS ago. I’d like to introduce you to (in my opinion) the best La Roche Posay product: Cicaplast Gel B5 Skin Protectant. But first, let me tell you a little backstory.
In January, I woke up and my skin felt like it was on fire. I looked in the mirror and straight up GASPED. My skin looked HORRIBLE. It was red, patchy, flaky, and honestly felt like I had a horrible sunburn. It was even accentuating my wrinkles. I immediately panicked because I’ve actually been lucky with my skin up until now. So naturally, I booked an appointment at the dermatologist. It was actually my very first time seeing a dermatologist – I know, that was a mistake on my part (luckily got all of my moles checked and everything was A-OK!). I genuinely thought I was having a reaction to something or even developing some sort of skin condition. And my dermatologist’s response? “Your skin is just really dry (here’s how I hydrate my dry skin), and you probably don’t drink enough water.”
Welp. She wasn’t wrong. So I freaked a bit for no reason BUT I’m still glad I went BECAUSE…
I told her about my current skincare routine and then she recommended a few products – mainly La Roche Posay. I have been using LRP products for YEARS (and have been lucky enough to get gifted product). I currently have 4 LRP products in my skincare line up. But I think the best La Roche Posay product is the Cicaplast Gel B5 Skin Protectant. Now let me tell you why.
The Best La Roche Posay Product
The Cicaplast Gel B5 Skin Protectant, in my opinon, has been SUCH a relief for my skin. It helps relieve chapped, cracked skin, and soothes disrupted skin barriers. When I was looking into the gel, I didn’t realize that it was also recommended for post-procedures/stitches/laser. So that’s kind of a bonus to me!! Anything that says it helps my skin barrier…I’m in. When I first used this product, I actually almost leapt for joy because the consistency felt like the La Mer Concentrate that I’ve been trying to find a dupe of FOR YEARS. I specifically loved the texture of it. It felt like velvet on your skin and I was in love…with everything except the price tag. That’s why I seriously couldn’t believe that I’ve been missing out on the best La Roche Posay product!!!
Ingredients
- Glycerin: Hydrates skin by absorbing water from the surrounding environment
- Panthenol: Also known as B5 – helps the skin feel soothed and moisturized
- Madecassoside: Madecassoside is known for its nourishing properties
- Hyaluronic Acid: A powerful humectant that helps moisturize and visibly plump skin
- La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water: A soothing water sourced in the town of La Roche-Posay in France, and a core ingredient in most of their products. It contains a unique combination of minerals, trace elements, and a high concentration of selenium, a natural antioxidant (I didn’t know this about their products but was always curious because it’s on their packaging!
How To Use The Best La Roche Posay Product
WHEN: Daily, as needed. I use in the morning and at night. When my skin is going through a dry flare up, I apply throughout the day.
WHERE: All over! You can also use this on your body
HOW: Apply all over on dry, clean skin. I typically apply after cleansing, toning, and my serum. I wait for it to completely dry before applying my moisturizer (also what I consider a best La Roche Posay product!)
