Summer is coming to an end that means fall! But temperatures are still warm and summer will be sticking around for a few more weeks. This makes getting dressed a little difficult; do you still purchase summer clothing? Is it too early to shop for fall? To make getting dressed easier, I’ve founded up the best summer pieces to transition to fall. These are items that are lightweight and breathable so they can be worn now, but can easily be styled once the temperatures start to drop. Think lightweight jackets, tailored pieces, and midi dresses.
Summer Pieces to Transition to Fall
Stripe Sweater
A stripe sweater is a classic wardrobe piece and the perfect piece for transitioning from season to season. The Emilie sweater from J.Crew has always been a favorite of mine and the new relaxed fit is perfection! Wear it styled over your shoulders with a midi dress now or with trousers or jeans come fall.
Curve Shoulder Bag
The crescent bag has taken the Internet by storm and this shoulder bag from Madewell is the bag of my fall dreams. I’ve been styling it with dresses, activewear, and shorts and oversized button downs. Be sure to add this to your rotation this summer and fall and thank me later!!
White Cropped T-Shirt
In between seasons is the perfect time to stock up on your basics, t-shirts included. This relaxed cropped fit t-shirt can easily be worn now with a pair of high-waisted shorts and come fall, layer it under an oversized blazer.
Cashmere Patch-Pocket Cardigan
I will never say no to a relaxed-fit cardigan and this one is going to be everywhere this fall. J.Crew has the best cashmere (it’s seriously sooo soft) and this cardigan is no exception! I love the patch pocket detailing, too. Style with shorts, midi dresses, jeans, and trousers now, and later.
Scoopneck Vest
If you haven’t tried the vest trend yet, now is the time!! We’re going to keep seeing this trend through fall and this tailored scoop neck vest is SO chic. I’m partial to the black for fall but if you are looking for lighter colored pieces, it also comes in a beautiful ivory.
Chunky Dome Cuff Bracelet
I know most jewelry isn’t exactly seasonal, but I do like to incorporate in some chunkier pieces to compliment heavier fabrics as the temperatures get cooler. I love this chunky cuff bracelet exactly for that reason! Try wearing it with a feminine dress for a fun contrast and come fall, wear it with all of your favorite cozy layers.
Oversized Cotton Sweater
A neutral pullover sweater is a must come fall and this one is so cozy! With a slightly-oversized fit, it makes for a great end of summer summer for those cooler evenings and mornings. In the fall (and winter!), layer it over a turtleneck for an extra cozy outfit.
Twill Shirt Jacket
Nantucket is one of my favorite places to visit and when I saw that Nantucket Reds did a collaboration with Tuckernuck, I let out a small squeal. This Nantucket red twill shirt jacket is the perfect piece to transition from summer to fall. The color is (obviously) perfection and gives major summer vibes but it’s thick enough to keep you warm as the temperatures start to drop.
Patch Pocket Wide Leg Jeans
Madewell has been killing it with the denim collections lately and this patch pocket pair are the perfect jean to transition into fall. I recommend going with your true size but if you’re between sizes, size down! These jeans have a lot of stretch.
Cable Knit Sweater
It is officially the season of cardigans and I couldn’t be more excited. This cable knit sweater will have a place in your closet for years, it’s truly timeless. One of my favorite details is the material! It’s a cotton-blend bouclé and is so soft and gives this classic sweater style a modern twist.
Cropped Button-Up Denim Shirt
Denim shirts are one of my favorite fall trends and this cropped denim button-up is such a fun twist on the trend! I plan to wear this into fall as I would a denim jacket.
Popover Shirt
There is nothing I love more than a popover shirt. They’re an easy way to elevate an outfit without having to put much though into it. This one from Tuckernuck is my latest obsession! Pair it with a casual pair of denim shorts on the weekend and with a pair of wide leg trousers for the office.<
